Description
Hem (Latin cicatrix, - icis, f.) — the dense soyedinitelnotkanny education which arose owing to regeneration of fabrics after damage or an inflammation (for example, on skin after healing of a wound, in a duodenum after healing of an ulcer, or in a myocardium after a heart attack).
Cicatricial fabric consists mainly of collagen and differs from fabrics which it replaces in the lowered functional properties. For example, hems on skin are more sensitive to ultra-violet radiation, and in them sweat glands and hair follicles are not restored, and the hem in a cardiac muscle after a myocardial infarction does not participate in reduction of heart and can lead to heart failure. Some fabrics, for example — bone, are capable to restore considerably the structure and function after damage.
By amount of neogenic fabric hems on skin are subdivided on hypertrophic and atrophic. At hypertrophic hems of new fabric it is formed more, than it was destroyed, thus the hem acts over a skin surface. At atrophic hems of fabric it is formed less, than it was destroyed.
