The substances received from limestone act as a hardener thanks to which glass gets the hardness and density. Requirements to the low content of iron (no more than 0,2%, for high-quality ware - 0.3%), this necessary condition for receiving colorless glass are imposed to the calcareous krupka applied in this production. Also the content of calcite should not be lower than 53%.
Limestone for the glass industry is used as a calcium oxide source for glassmaking. The calcium oxide received from limestone promotes a silikatoobrazovaniye, significantly facilitates cooking and light transmissivity.
Use of limestone in the glass industry also provides to glass a number of anticorrosive and antieroziyny properties - increases resistance to temperature and chemical influences, protects from aeration. Unslaked lime and ground limestoun are used by production of fiber glass and fiber glass fabric.
