Boric acid - colourless crystal substance in the form of flavourless scales, fat to the touch, or crystal powder. Weak acid, moderately a rastvorima in cold water, is better - in hot, than use for its cleaning (solubility in on 100 g of H2O: 2,66 at 0 °C and 39,7 at 100 °C). In mineral acids it is dissolved worse, than in water, and in solutions of salts it is better. Solubility in ethanol 5,56g, in glycerin 28 of, on air 0,0078g in 100 ml. Boric acid of a rastvorim in alcohol, acetone, dioxane, pyridine. Practically not a rastvorima on air.
Density is 1,435 g/cm ³. Melting temperature - 170,9 °C, boiling temperature - 300 °C.
In the nature boric acid meets in the form of a mineral of a sassolin, and also in thermal waters and natural brines from which it is extracted alcohols or mix of polyols or occlude inorganic and organic sorbents.
Chemical formula: H3BO3
