Description
Baking soda
represents crystal powder of a high milling, white color, flavourless, saltish (soap) taste which at hit on mucous membranes causes irritation. It is easily dissolved in water. Is sour sodium salt of coal acid and sodium. Reacts with acids with formation of salt and coal acid which right there breaks up to carbon dioxide and water. At a temperature of 60 °C baking soda breaks up to a sodium carbonate, carbon dioxide and water.
Distinctive feature is the soft alkaline properties which are not making harmful effects on animal and vegetable fabrics.
Density - 2,159 g/cm ³. Boiling temperature - 851 °C, melting temperature - 270 °C.
